‘The Sun’

A signed and numbered limited edition hand pulled screen print on 300gsm paper

There are 20 Hand finished with 23.5 carat gold and 20 in pink and blue

“At the centre of all things resides the sun. Rightly it is called the lamp, the spirit, the ruler of the universe. Thus the sun sits on its royal throne and guides its children” - Copernicus Harmonia Macrocosmia

Warm up your walls with the original deity: the sun. Worshipped by the ancient civilisations of the Aztecs, Egyptians, Greeks and Vedas the sun is the all powerful life force that connects us all. For my interpretation of this classic symbol I looked to the suns of Western Alchemy, Astrology and Tarot where the sun often represented the creative vitality and spiritual enlightenment.

The sun has also had a long connection with gold in lots of cultures. This edition is real celebration of that unity. It’s got the most 23.5 gold leaf I’ve used on an edition so far. And that gold has been directionally burnished with a bit of velvet to make the light bounce off at different angles and create a dimensional pop. Difficult to convey in photos but its entrancing in real life.

Just make sure wherever this print ends up in your home that its getting a good dose of the original sun’s light to really make the gold sing.

This print was made using a fully analogue print process. I painted the transparencies used for exposing the silkscreens by hand to give as a direct a link as possible to my original artwork in your print.

Given this has been made by hand there may be some slight variations in the print you receive to the one you see in these photos - no two gilds are ever exactly the same, thats the wonder of gold.

Prints are posted rolled in a reinforced cardboard tube

Postage for UK orders is via Royal Mail Tracked and Signed. Worldwide shipping is available via Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed.
