32 SAFFRON HILL

Bringing a golden touch to Farringdon

In 2023 I was commissioned the design team at Stafford School to help elevate the lobby of a office block at 32 Saffron Hill, Farringdon.

This 19th century building was ripe for some classic sign painting. The brick arch above the main entrance was the ideal space for a large new ‘32 Saffron Hill’ design, rendered in gold leaf.

Just inside the door the previous refit had recess cut a large ‘32’ into rough sawn timber panels. I was tasked with bringing it to life by filling that recess with a huge amount of 23.5 carat gold leaf.

Finally some cupboard doors in the lobby area needed a texture to break them up. So we decided on an abstract graphic wood grain type effect to be painted onto them.
